What started Outdoor Guides of Texas L.L.C.

A friend and I were discussing website building and he mentioned several subjects that could use a “better” website. One of these was fishing guides. His comment was that “…you have to go to several different sites to find who is really guiding on what lake.” I thought there had to be one site that listed all the guides for all the major lakes in Texas. After searching for a day and not finding that single site I called my friend back and we discussed the possibilities of building a site that a person could go to and find virtually all the guides in Texas for all the lakes and rivers in Texas.

Well, it got to be on obsession with me. I designed what I wanted and contacted a sub-contractor that I knew could build the site I wanted. He said that it would not be a problem to build it, but someone would have to gather all the information on all the guides and he would do the rest.

I could do that. I had a bent for gathering data and listing it in an order that was useful. It took several months to find what I think is most of the guides in Texas and all the guided lakes in Texas.

We wanted all the guides listed for free, hoping they would bring along sponsors they knew wanted to advertise or friends that had something to advertise. And that was the bases for this business.

We simply want people to be able to use the site successfully, so we are keeping it simple to find the list of guides for the lake you want to fish on.

And as this one develops and grows we have some more ideas.
